At first the reservation area included 2740 hectares, inclusive a strictly protected zone of 732 hectares. At present, the reservation has an area of 12 300 ha. And it consists of 3 zones: the strictly protected zone with an area of 720 ha, the buffer zone - 4357 ha. And a transitory zone with an area of 12300 ha.
The strictly protected zone contains the habitats of rare species of plants and animals. It is prohibited any kind of anthropic activity except the scientific and protective investigations.

FLORE. Includes over 1000 species of plants: 67 species - lichens, 70 species - musses, 334 species - macromycetes, 780 species - Equisetaceae, ferns and vascular plants.The forests consist of 2 main groups - the virgin forests - 830 ha and derivative forests - the rest of the territory.
FAUNE. It presents practically entirely the fauna of the Central and West Europe forests. There are good growth and reproduction conditions for the flora representatives of Carpati and Balcani mountains, also the mountains of Asia. That reprezentatives include: 43 species of mammals, 145 species - birds, 7 species - reptiles, 10 species - amphibians, over 8000 species - insects.
